Circus Is Here!

Rural Schools in Central Taiwan

For many children, their first encounter with the arts may begin with a single experience at school. This autumn, FOCASA continues to bring circus into schools across Central Taiwan, travelling from one campus to another and bringing the experience directly to children. Through talks, demonstrations and hands-on activities, students move from watching circus to trying it themselves, discovering the joy of movement, balance, teamwork and creativity. Circus does not have to exist only in theatres or on stages. It can become part of everyday school life, offering children a first encounter with the performing arts and opening the door to imagination. With the support of the Yi-Ai Cultural Development Association, we are able to bring professional circus arts to more schools and make the arts accessible beyond geographical boundaries. From September to October, the tour will visit ten schools. We hope that every encounter, every round of applause and every attempt will become a starting point for children to explore the world and discover something new about themselves.
