About the Show
Adapted from Olé Lukøje by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, Olé follows the dream-bringer Olé and a young boy named Marty on a fantastical adventure. With the magical ability to turn back time, Olé takes Marty into the past, where he must confront the mistakes he has made and the fears he has kept hidden. As he travels between dreams and reality, Marty gradually learns to find the courage to make choices of his own.
Told entirely without words, the production uses the body as its language of storytelling. Juggling clubs, Cyr wheel, hat juggling, clowning and mime transform into characters, events and surreal landscapes within Marty’s dreams. Through objects, movement and physical relationships, the performers carry the story forward, inviting audiences into a world suspended between reality and imagination, while leaving space for viewers of all ages to create their own interpretations.
Seen through the eyes of a child, Olé explores something familiar to anyone who has ever grown up: the unexpected distance between our dreams and reality. Wishes that once seemed simple and certain gradually encounter setbacks, fears and difficult choices as childhood gives way to adulthood. If the dream-bringer gave you the chance to return to the past, would you have the courage to face the person you once were? And this time, what would you choose?
