【New Release】Do Circus Vol.16 Summer Issue: Just Go Extreme!

Text by Do Circus · Photos by Kris Kang

Going to the extreme is one of the most distinctive languages of contemporary circus, and part of our instinct to keep testing the limits of the human body. With extreme sports as its theme, Do Circus Vol. 16 looks beyond extraordinary physical skills to ask a more fundamental question: why are we drawn to risk? Through failure, fear, danger and breakthrough, the issue explores how pushing limits can become both a creative method and a way of seeing the world. It also considers the spirit shared by contemporary circus and extreme sports: not the pursuit of thrills for their own sake, but the desire to keep venturing into the unknown. Designed by Yeh Chung-Yi, the issue transforms the magazine into an energy drink pouch. A spout, metallic foil packaging and a visual language mixing English and Japanese borrow directly from the aesthetics of extreme sports products. Readers must physically tear open the sealed package before they can begin reading. This simple action feels almost like taking a leap from which there is no turning back. Before opening it, everything remains unknown. Once opened, the only direction is forward, echoing the spirit of extreme sports: no turning back, just giving it everything you have.
