This time, Lin Hwai-min, always eager to champion talented artists, stepped in to direct FOCASA’s new production One to One Hundred, inspired by the picture books of Jimmy Liao. After observing the company for many years, Lin felt the time was right for FOCASA to evolve in a new direction. “These young performers entered performing arts school at the age of ten and have extraordinary technical skills. But I felt the company needed something different—something that would make society take notice of them. Jimmy’s work is inherently playful and engaging, and I’ve always felt that FOCASA needed more joyful elements in its work, something that would allow it to connect more readily with society.”
